Volunteer
In South Carolina, grandparents act as the primary caregivers
for 9 percent of all children, and other relatives are
the caregivers for another 2.1 percent.
These relatives provide a crucial safety net for abused
and neglected children. Their support is critical to the
welfare of these children, but it can be an overwhelming
task.
To help these caregivers, HALOS created the Kinship Care
Resource and Support Program. Once a month, caregivers of
abused and neglected children participate in a support group
with other caregivers who welcomed children into their homes.
To provide dinner and child care at these gatherings, HALOS
relies on volunteers. If you would like to help prepare
a light dinner or spend some hands-on time with these children,
we need volunteers to prepare the meals and babysit. Without
volunteers, this event could not happen. All it takes is
one night a month for you to help a family in need. For more information about the Kinship Care program, contact HALOS' Kinship Care Program Director at 843-953-9539. |
